WE SHALL KNOW OUR VELOCITY #2 — January 22, 2007
Nikon D200: 50mm, 1/320 f/2.4
This is the final post from our outing last week. Currently listening to the ever so tender & poetic "Somersault" by Decoder Ring; a fine end to the evening. I hope everyone's week is off to a swell start.
Perfect composed. The silhouette of the bird works well with these tones.

Comment by derLitograph — January 23, 2007 @ 4:05 amTyler, this entire series is just amazing. It has a bit of a macabre feel but it is really powerful. Again use of colour and DOF is very unique to your style and I totally love it. And how the hell did you get that bird to fly straight up?
Comment by Brant — January 23, 2007 @ 6:07 amTerrific shot. Love the composition and tones.
Comment by Otto K. — January 23, 2007 @ 8:17 amvery good shot!!!!!
Comment by TyBo — January 23, 2007 @ 10:51 amI like the title. I googled it — is it a reference to the David Eggers book, or is that in turn a ref to something else…? Or did you just make it up?
Comment by Peter F — January 23, 2007 @ 2:22 pmVery nice again !
Comment by nicolas — January 23, 2007 @ 3:12 pmThanks everyone.
@Brant: It was a joint effort. The Better Half™ patiently & adeptly tossed some bread while I snapped away. Whole wheat bread to be specific ;)
@Peter: When I first viewed this series (specifically the bottom image on the original post) I was immediately reminded of book covers. I then thought of Eggers “You Shall Know Our Velocity” and how perfectly these images represented that statement. I eventually settled on “We Shall Know Our Velocity ” to embody the crow and its inherent mythology.

Comment by Plasticpeter — January 24, 2007 @ 12:43 pmWonderful capture, you chose a good point to make the photo. The way the bird rises into the air looks amazing. Visited your blog for the first time. Very, very nice!
