  1. Wow! This is a spectacular landscape shot. I’m assuming you used a polarizer for the sky effect and to make the water so clear, did you have a hard time getting this shot right?

  2. I’m guessing this is hdr or tonemapped? That spot gets some fairly harsh shadows this time of day but you seem to have gotten around them nicely.

  3. Thats some intense colour. What a cool place! Really nice on the wide angle. You are making a pretty good pitch for tourism Arizona with this one Tyler ;-)

  5. Thanks y’all :)

@Andrew + Jeff: We first visited this location for the summer solstice sunset & discovered (from another photographer) the best time to shot was 10 AM. When we returned the bend was almost completely free of shadow, but it was also very bright. To even out the tones I bracketed five exposures & merged them via layers/blend modes in Photoshop. I did use a polarizer - actually, it rarely left my lens for the duration of the trip, I love it. Thanks again for commenting :)

  6. A beautiful shot of a beautiful spot. I rafted Grand Canyon earlier this year and now can’t get enough of those Southwestern landscapes.

  23. Fantastic - 5 exposures are a lot of brackets - but totally worth it. I just discovered your site, but I’m certainly bookmarking it to see everything you post from now on. Nicely done.
